A proud tradition…

The Oklahoma City Kennel Club has a rich history of being the premier Kennel Club in Oklahoma City for over 80 years. Since 1924, the club has promoted purebred dog ownership in the community, and it continues to be the hallmark of our mission today. Our members actively show their dogs. In fact, there are usually many members attending the most prestigious shows in the country, including Westminster and the AKC Eukanuba Classic. Primarily focused on competition at the club shows, matches and other events, being an advocate for purebred dogs in all areas,  including legislation is also important to the club.

… With A New Vision

In 2002, a new vision for the club and the cluster was created, turning the shows into more of an “event.” Part of that vision was realized by moving to the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City in 2003, along with the Mid-Del-Tinker Kennel Club as the cluster partner. Since that first leap of faith, the shows have grown every year, with exhibitors eagerly awaiting to participate in an event that has gained the reputation of being one of the most exhibitor friendly shows in the country. In fact, in 2008 and 2009 the Oklahoma City Kennel Club was nominated for Show of the Year by Dogs in Review magazine. In 2013 Lawton KC joined our Cluster brining it to a 5 day show.

This year (2017) we are continuing our cluster but in the new Bennett Event Center at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.

The club continues to focus on the future, developing the show and its members and producing one of the country’s Best in Shows.
